One of two Hoffknecht family benches purchased by my dad, William Hoffknecht, for the opening of Stadium ’76 at Merced College in Merced. Last name misspelled.

Sports has been a big part of my life and for members of my family. I’ve been a sports freak since my younger days, when for some reason I wanted to be a Los Angeles Rams fan. That didn’t last long.

I created this page mainly as a place to dump all things sports-related. Even to add stuff from the World Cup soccer prelims that came to Stanford Stadium in the 1980s.

Didn’t go to this game; bought the half-priced puck in the gift shop during a tennis tournament. Bought a mesh All-Star jersey also post-game. Helen and I checked out the Sybase Open in 1997; I think we got to see Pete Sampras and Michael Chang play.
