DAryl’s Memorial Ceremony

Thank you to everyone for attending Saturday’s memorial for Daryl in Yosemite Valley. It was hot — we were standing, sweating and hoofing it from one spot to another, but we pulled it off. It was a beautiful service with lots of love — I know Daryl is happy in heaven. Much thanks to everyone for helping read prayers and carrying stuff around. And, of course, thank you for putting up with me getting sick and overheated — I obviously should have eaten that morning and dressed in cooler clothes. Thank goodness the river was there for all of us to cool off — it was so much fun watching the kids swim and play together. I wish we all could have stayed there another day!

I’ve posted here a PDF of the program we used for the service– the PDF includes the directional prayers that I decided not to read because they were lengthy, and I wanted to cut things a bit short because of the heat. I thought you all might like to read them.

Video compilation: Part 1 and Part 2
Part 1 of 2 videos

As we gather this weekend to remember the life of Daryl Turnbull, I wanted to share a photo compilation — in two video files labeled Part 1 and Part 2 — featuring images of him, his family, and of our life together.

The images used here reflect content that was available to me as I made this. There are more photos in storage of Daryl and other family members, but unfortunately I couldn’t include them here.

The two video files include a couple of old video clips, taken with an ancient cellphone, of Daryl and I at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, the beach and Yosemite Valley.

Part 2 of 2

Happy birthday, Daryl!

At the Hoffknecht homestead: A clip of Daryl helping my brother, Bill, load up a wagon with stuff, at the family farm in Merced, 2011. Also in the video are Bill’s wife Jannie, my brother, Fred, and my sister, Carmen. We were clearing the farm to get it ready for sale.

That time we met Stacy Samuels, aka Banjo Man, at a 49ers game.
